A quick update on our vegetable and herb garden.
As I am sure you are aware, Lee our Head Chef loves to create only the freshest of food from locally sourced ingredients and so had led the discussions on what we need to plant.
Callum at ANU Garden services started off with a huge project to clear the debris from the area we have used, and this in itself was a lengthy task. With lots of overgrown areas hiding a variety of things, this took a while but just before Christmas it was cleared ready for the next phase.
Stevie Young then from Complete Property Maintenance, set about the second phase of the project in the building of raised beds in the garden area. This was started and completed in April ready for the planting of our first crop.
With the help of family (Roger and Hazel Peperell), we then set about planting the first crop, a specially selected array of vegetables and herbs that would support Lee in his menu design and allow us to deliver this wonderful idea.
This is where we are currently at, a few teething problems means we have recruited Roger and Hazel again to come and help secure the beds from any cheeky animal invaders who may want to eat our lovely produce (rabbits), and so far the weather has been a wonderful mix of sunshine and showers which has already shown some crops already coming through.
As we head towards what we hope will be weeks of glorious sunshine, Austin and Rebecca are on standby for watering duties to ensure the crops survive and thrive and we look forward to giving you updates on how it is all going.
Music & bbq Evenings
We have a number of live music and BBQ events on some Sunday evenings as shown below. Our first was so well received, we were absolutely delighted by the tunes of Andy Ellis, who played for so much longer than he was originally down to do, due to the consistent shouts for more from the crowd.
